Abilities:
Abilities are passive effects that each Pokémon possesses for use in battle. A Pokémon's ability is decided when the Pokémon spawns and is chosen from a pool of up to three possible abilities that the Pokémon can have. A Pokémon may only have one ability at a time.

Advancements:

Evolution:
Evolution is a process that many Pokémon can undergo, causing the Pokémon to change into a different Pokémon. This change in species is also accompanied by a change in the Pokémon's appearance and a (usually positive) change in the Pokémon's base stats.
A Pokémon can evolve a maximum of two times, depending on what Pokémon it is. Some Pokémon may have the choice of evolving into multiple different Pokémon depending on the conditions that are met. Some Pokémon, including most Legendary Pokémon, do not evolve at all and have no evolutionary relatives.

Move Skills:
Move skills are actions that Pokémon can execute outside of battle. Most move skills require a certain move to be known by the Pokémon to be used. However, every Pokémon can use "Forage". When a Pokémon is sent out, its move skill is shown at the top-right corner of the screen. With default controls, a move skill can be used by pressing "g". If a Pokémon can use multiple external moves, the player can cycle through them by pressing "b".

Types are classifications that are assigned to Pokémon and moves. A Pokémon can have either one or two types while a move can only have one type. If a Pokémon uses a damaging move that matches one of it's types, the move will gain 1.5x damage multiplier known as STAB (Same-Type Attack Bonus).
